TVS Apache RTX 300
For years, Indian riders who wanted a proper adventure-style bike around the ₹2 lakh mark had only a handful of choices. The TVS Apache RTX 300 changes that conversation. It brings a new 299cc engine, a long-travel chassis, a colour TFT screen and a long list of electronics to a price that looks friendly for the segment.
In this guide, we go through the TVS Apache RTX 300 price, engine, features, chassis and variants, and then work out who will enjoy it most.
At launch, TVS announced three variants with introductory ex-showroom prices:
| Variant | Ex-showroom price (introductory) |
|---|---|
| Base | ₹1.99 lakh |
| Top | ₹2.14 lakh |
| BTO (Built to Order) | ₹2.29 lakh |
Soon after launch, the Viper Green shade of the BTO variant went up by ₹5,000, to ₹2.34 lakh. Some listing sites now show slightly higher figures for all three variants, so confirm the latest price with your nearest TVS dealer before you book.
The TVS Apache RTX 300 runs on the new RT-XD4 engine. It is a 299.1cc single-cylinder unit with liquid and oil cooling, dual overhead camshafts and twin oil pumps. It makes 35.5 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 28.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
Power goes to the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch. The bi-directional quickshifter lets you change gears up or down without touching the clutch, which is a real treat on long highway stretches.
Those numbers will not shock anyone on paper. But a single-cylinder engine in this tune is usually easy to live with: it pulls cleanly from low revs, cruises without fuss and does not punish you in city traffic.
This is where the TVS Apache RTX 300 stands out for its price. The list includes:
Not every feature comes on every variant. According to listings, phone connectivity and navigation are reserved for the Top and BTO versions, while tyre pressure monitoring (TPMS), adjustable suspension and a brass-coated chain are limited to the BTO. If you plan to tour, check the variant sheet carefully.
The TVS Apache RTX 300 looks like a rally machine. It has a semi-faired body, an upright windshield and raised handlebars, so you sit tall with a relaxed posture. Twin LED headlamps give the front a distinctive face, and the two-piece stepped seat with a rear luggage rack suits both solo and two-up riding.
TVS offers five colours: Viper Green, Tarn Bronze, Metallic Blue, Lightning Black and Pearl White.
The bike is built around a steel trellis frame with an aluminium die-cast swingarm. Up front is a gold-finished 41 mm WP upside-down fork, and at the rear sits a long-travel monoshock with a preload adjuster.
According to listed specifications, braking comes from a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc. The bike rolls on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheel, wrapped in tubeless 110/80-19 and 150/70-17 tyres. That 19/17 setup is a classic adventure combination, and it helps the bike roll over rough patches without drama.
| Measurement | Figure |
|---|---|
| Seat height | 835 mm |
| Ground clearance | 200 mm |
| Wheelbase | 1,430 mm |
| Kerb weight | 180 kg |
| Fuel tank | 12.5 litres |
These figures come from listing sites, so treat them as a guide and verify them with TVS. The 835 mm seat is on the taller side, and shorter riders should sit on the bike before buying.
TVS has lined up a set of add-ons for riders who want to go further. These include a raised beak fender, rear hugger, bash plate, tank guard, knuckle guards, a USB phone charger, a GIVI top box and side panniers. With a luggage rack already fitted, the bike is ready for weekend trips with only a few additions.
What works well
What to keep in mind
If you want one motorcycle for office commutes, weekend highway runs and the occasional broken road, the TVS Apache RTX 300 makes a strong case. It suits first-time adventure riders who want modern electronics without paying a premium, and it will also appeal to Apache owners who are ready to step up.
If you plan to cover long, remote routes regularly, the Top or BTO variant is the smarter pick, since you get connectivity, and with the BTO, the added suspension adjustability.
The TVS Apache RTX 300 is not trying to be the most powerful bike in its class. Instead, it offers a well-rounded package: a smooth single-cylinder engine, a tall and comfortable riding position, serious electronics and genuine touring ability. For riders who want an adventure-style bike without stretching their budget, the TVS Apache RTX 300 deserves a place on the test-ride list.
